Chapter founded 2005. In 2007, UBC became the first university in Canada, and one of the first in the world, to adopt principles for global access to their technologies. We have continued to work with UBC to help them strengthen and implement these principles, and to spread these ideas to other universities (especially in Canada). Since then, our chapter has also branched out into many other areas: we work on promoting R&D for neglected diseases; national legislation campaigns; and empowerment and educational activities for other UAEMers at the local, national and international levels. We also love hugs.
