Travel to New Haven

Yale University is in New Haven, Connecticut, on the eastern coast of the USA. Nearby large cities include Hartford (40 miles north) and New York City (80 miles southwest).
If you are flying in, we recommend flying to Hartford or New York, and then traveling by land to New Haven. Flights directly to New Haven are relatively infrequent and expensive.
Remember to book your flight early to get good rates!

By Car

By Bus
Both Greyhound and Peter Pan bus lines have scheduled stops at Union Station, New Haven.
By Train
The City of New Haven is connected to many major metropolitan centers by a vibrant railroad system. From New York City, which 90 minutes away by rail, one can catch either the Amtrak (Grand Central Station) or Metro-North (Penn Station) trains which depart regularly for Union Station in New Haven. Amtrak also connects New Haven to Hartford, CT, Boston, MA and Newark, NJ.
By Airport Limousine Service
There are several airport shuttle companies that service visitors to New Haven. Please be sure to book to your trip with them in advance to ensure a better traveling experience. More information on their schedules, fares, and drop off points in New Haven is available on their websites.
