Berkeley, CA - UAEM students at multiple University of California (UC) campuses have joined efforts to encourage UC President Mark Yudof to implement a policy which will ensure that every relevant university technology is licensed as part of an effective and transparent strategy to make affordable versions available in quantity in developing countries. This effort will complement the nearly 1,000 signed letters from students and faculty that have already been delivered to the UC Office of the President (UCOP) last week. The University of California is the nation's leader in academic research and technology transfer; therefore, it is essential that the cost of UC-developed medicines is reduced by a global access licensing strategy.
